Maintenance Management

ACM's experience with maintenance work includes routine planned and preventative maintenance; shutdown (turnaround and outage) planning, scheduling and cost control; and integrated management of pre-shutdown, shutdown, and capital improvements. ACM's experience includes electrical utilities (fossil and nuclear), pharmaceutical, petro-chemical, and iron and steel.

Working with client maintenance organizations, ACM has facilitated the decrease of emergency work orders and increased the organization's credibility through successful implementation of a scheduling system used to manage maintenance crews and both the planned and preventative work orders. Experience has shown that best-in-class status can be achieved by:

  1. Developing and assigning work order priorities
  2. Early assignment of work orders to crews
  3. Estimating work order durations and effort
  4. Leveling work orders for maintenance crews provides a work plan for current and future periods
  5. Establishing metrics for benchmarking performance
  6. Initiating compliance reporting which contrasts actual progress against planned work
  7. Routine reporting to customers, engineering, and management to assure accountability for plan development and follow through
ACM's experience with integrating maintenance, re-tooling, and capital projects by applying project management methods has resulted in substantial savings in project and manufacturing costs and time. Application of project management for integration of multiple projects which use common and limited resources must focus on critical work to assure dates are met and manage non-critical work to minimize over/understaffing and increased costs.

ACM's professionals are providing hands-on support to clients in planning, scheduling, estimating, and cost control for shutdown projects. They use client/industry state-of-the-art computer systems and tried and true management methods to complete required work scope, minimize changes to work scope, and complete shutdowns on time and within budget.
