Project Controls

Project controls are the tools used by management in planning objectives, tracking the organization and responsibilities, providing substance to the implementation process, reporting the status and variances to assist management in its control and, if necessary, project re-planning.

Project controls include conceptual and detailed estimates and milestone schedules necessary to evaluate and support planned objectives. Once the plan is identified, project controls include budget, identification, sequence of activities, and estimates of the time required for various organizations to complete their responsibilities in support of the project. During this implementation process, progress is identified and evaluated against plans, schedules, and budgets. Reports are then prepared for management's use. These reports provide management with the variances and identify activities requiring follow-up action. Project controls personnel provide assistance to management in evaluating the sensitivity of re-planning and budget changes.

ACM's experience in project controls is extensive. It includes the development of project controls systems and the application of current industry systems on projects. The services that ACM has provided to clients include clients' project controls teams, providing consulting services to define project controls requirements, and development of estimates, budgets, and schedules.

ACM is experienced in providing training to client personnel in the use of project controls systems and the development of procedures to support the systems and client's project organization. Training may consist of a one to two-day workshop on the theory of Planning and Scheduling and use of computerized systems to an extensive training program involving staff working with client personnel in developing project controls for a specific need. ACM is also experienced in the development of procedures to include the operations of systems and the interface between project organizations.
